winemaker's notes:
A Bordeaux blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Malbec, 4% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc.
The 2005 growing season was long and slow, allowing intricate flavors to develop in our red grape vineyards. 8% Malbec, 4% Merlot and 3% Petit verdot highlight this varietal Cabernet, adding aromatic lift, complexity, and intrigue to the nose and palate. Aromas of cassis, autumn leaves, graphite and mocha prelude a palate laced with bramble berries, earth, roasted espresso beans, tar and black spices. Its youthful yet integrated tannin structure makes this wine worthy of aging 5 to 10 years.
critical acclaim:
"Rich, powerful and full-bodied, this is marked by thick Syrah-like road tar, graphite, dried currant, sage and herbal flavors that are concentrated and reflective of a cool climate for Cabernet. Drink now through 2016."

Wine Spectator
"The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits classic aromas of black currants, loamy soil and graphite. This medium to full-bodied, stylish, elegant, layered, concentrated Cabernet can be drunk now or cellared for 10-15 years."
