Inviting aromas of mocha and ripe raspberry are accented by a nutty toastiness and the suggestion of cinnamon. On the palate, this Merlot offers more juicy raspberry, coupled with supple, firm tannins and a lengthy finish.

I make no pretensions that I'm an expert. In fact, I usually buy the highest rated wine on sites like this that have the most reasonable price (think under $50). I have a friend who's a fan of Merlots and wanted something that was of good quality, without breaking the bank; this Chateau St. Michelle Columbia Valley filled that requirement in spades. For the price, it is an outstanding wine. If I'd spent twice as much I wouldn't have been disappointed.
