Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The Catena Zapata Adrianna is a violet with black tones malbec from the highest Catena´s family vineyard. It offers aromas of ripe red fruits, lavender, violets, coconut and tobacco. Powerful and deep, with a grip and flavors of cassis, dark chocolate and minerals. With liquor notes, remarkable concentration, and structure tannins.

Try with beef tenderloin with summer vegetables and sesame rice.

Critical Acclaim

"The 2008 Adrianna Vineyard Malbec also spent 18 months in 100% new French barriques. It is a similar purple/black in color, with an expressive bouquet of sandalwood, exotic spices, incense, mineral, black cherry, and black raspberry. Broader on the palate than the Nicasia cuvee, it displays serious extraction, great depth of flavor, complexity, and impeccable balance. This loaded, lengthy effort will evolve for at least 5-7 years and offers a drinking window extending from 2024 to 2028. "
97 Points

"This dense, concentrated red features jammy layers of kirsch, cassis and plum sauce, all woven with hints of vanilla, mesquite and black licorice. Supple, with a long, spicy finish."

Yet it's hard not to get caught up in the wine market of the world and some...
