winemaker's notes:
#66 Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2005!
Has a deep, dark purple color with violet tones. The nose is intense and complex, with ripe plum and blackberry fruit aromas with floral hints of violets and sweet spice. The mouthfeel is full, yet elegant with black cherry fruits and a touch of spicy black pepper. The finish is long and persistent, with soft, sweet tannins.

I stumbled upon this winemaker about 4 years ago. Each bottle I've had has been wonderful, and the 2002 lives up to those prior vintages. One of those rare instances where you really can taste where you've invested your money. If you are willing to try, then take this next step: buy a $10 Malbec as well and open them both at the same time. You'll be hooked on the Catena.
