Clos Apalta is the ultimate expression of Casa Lapostolle's dedication to quality made from the best grapes from our Apalta vineyard. This wine, not produced every year, is a belnd of Merlot, Carmenere, and Cabernet Sauvignon from 60-100 year old pre-phylloxera vines.

We opened this by mistake. We thought we were opening one of the rare but good Chardonnay’s from Lapostolle. We were pleasantly surprised to be pouring a red. The bouquet was not over powering but offered a wonderful fragrance. The blend of Carmenère, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon together with the mild tannins made this an interesting wine. we rated this a 90.
