Intense, deep crimson color. On the nose, aromas of red and dark fruit, with redcurrants and plums, also some mint and cedar. The bouquet fills out with notes of vanilla, spices and mocha. This wine has a pleasant tannic structure on the palate and shows good balance. Fine, mellow tannins. Very pleasant soft mouthfeel. Deep and aromatic, this is a wine that can be drunk now but which will develop more elegance over the next three to five years.
"The 2009 Amancaya Blend is composed of 70% Malbec and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 12 months in 25% new French oak. It displays an inviting nose of cedar, spice box, floral notes, tobacco, and black cherry. This sets the stage for a ripe, savory, black fruit-flavored wine with excellent depth, concentration, and balance. It has enough structure to drink well through 2019."
The Wine Advocate
"A superrpe style of Malbec blended with Cabernet. It's dark as midnight, with a luch bouquet and palate that ooze bulky black fruit aromas and flavors. It's compact, dense and sweet as sin, with black fruit marmalade and chocolate running the flavor profile. Finishes syrupy wnd with cafe mocha flavors. Flavorful to the max but a bit too soft to be considered excellent. "
"Full ruby-red. Complex, Medoc-like nose combines redcurrant, nutty oak, leather, tobacco leaf and fresh herbs. Supple and suave, with a restrained sweetness and a fine-grained texture. The broad tannins reach the teeth. Showing a bit less energy and nuance than the 2008 at the same stage, but this is pliant and well-made wine."
