CARO Amancaya 2008
Bordeaux Red Blends from Argentina, South America
Wine Style Guide
Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.
Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.
Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.
Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.
Deep purple-red color. Fruit driven wine, with appealing red and black cherry flavors, blackcurrant and plums with a hint of vanilla and cedar. On the palate it has a nice tannic texture, round and well-balanced.
Notes of vanilla and chocolate coming from the French oak.
"Bright red-ruby. Subtle, fresh and wonderfully aromatic nose offers complex scents of redcurrant, blueberry, strawberry, tobacco, mocha, graphite, leather and cedar. Penetrating and claret-like, with superb delineation to the redcurrant and tobacco flavors. Perfectly integrated acidity and an intriguing herbal nuance give this wine a light touch. Finishes with tactile, dusty tannins and lovely lift and persistence. Offers compelling complexity and class for the price. This is actually the second wine issued by this joint venture between Lafite-Rothschild and Nicolas Catena: the 2007 flagship bottling had not yet arrived in the market at press time. "
International Wine Cellar
Sadly, I forgot to write a review back when I drank this, but it was really good. All of us liked it. I recall we all thought it smelled really good before we even tasted it, and the taste was flavorful and smooth. No aftertaste. I saved the bottle for months, to remind me to write about it before I forgot everything, but I waited too long. That said, I highly recommend it. If you enjoy Cabernet Sauvignons, I cannot imagine you not liking this. Drank it in 2010.
Excellent wine with fruity, complex and definite buy again.
just have only praise for this one. would buy again.
this is a delicious wine, it needs to open up for a little bit, but once it has been in the glass about 5 minutes it is very smooth. great food wine, but also just drinkable on its own.
Big & Bold
Nice nose. First taste reminded me of an unseasoned nice steak just off the grill. This was a better wine than I expected it to be. I was worried about grabbing a case but now glad that I did. Decant for an hour or so and enjoy.
Malbec fruit + Cab depth. Nice, full bodied, easy drinking. Nice tannin on the finish.

Yet it's hard not to get caught up in the wine market of the world and some...
