winemaker's notes:
2003 is the first vintage of Amancaya. It represents a fruity wine which is slightly tannic and where the charm of Malbec can fully assert itself. The shorter maceration and barrel ageing in comparison to CARO, favor fruit and roundness. Beautiful dark color; fruity (red fruit) and spicy notes on the nose. Nice concentration, fleshy, wood well melted with fruit. Gentle tannins and nice length. Amancaya is pleasant to drink soon after bottling or can be kept for 3 to 5 years.
Grape Varieties: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Malbec

I agree with the customer from Saratoga Springs. The wine seemed a little rough at first and un-balanced. But after a few hours the wine opened up and seemed well put together. Seems like a lot of potential.

Fruit forward, big wine with noticable tannins which are slightly rough initially but mellow quickly on the palate. Slightly acid on the finish, good with spicy food. Deep in color, nice balance of cab sauv with malbec. (50/50). Good restaurant wine as does not need to open, however may wish to decant if opposed to sediment.

Thought the wine needed to settle a bit. Still a little rough. Good flavors. After the bottle was open for 1-2 days the initial flavor was smoother and had a stronger finish. Right out of the bottle it was the reverse.
