The 2006 Brokenwood Pinot Noir has a deep center with youthful purple tints around the edges. This wine exhibits a complex nose of lifted cherry, dark chocolate and spice over sweet, earthy notes. Layers of smoky vanillin oak appear in the background. The palate is robust in flavor with rich, black currant and brandied pudding flavors balanced by ripe tannins and a persistent, dry finish. This perfectly balanced Pinot Noir will mature further with time in the bottle, although it is enjoyable as a young Pinot Noir.
