winemaker's notes:

Aged in oak casks for at least 3 years. Esteemed for its concentrated aroma and subtle flavor, it can be served as an apéritif or as an after dinner drink. Madeira, warm and luscious in both its dry and sweet variations, makes an excellent wine for winter and the holiday season. Clear dark reddish-copper in color, it breathes classic and very appealing Madeira scents of dried dates and figs and mixed nuts. Smooth and gently sweet, it's not a "sticky" dessert wine but shows good fresh-fruit sweetness built on Madeira's sturdy core of tart, lemony acidity.

  RainWater - 12/28/2007
I would not buy this wine again

Good color, aroma and legs. Strong beginning wood flavor with a lingering taste of baby skin.

wine.com Notes

Madeira: The general term for fortified wines from the island of the same name in the Atlantic Ocean 300 miles due west of Casablanca. Madeira has been an autonomous region of Portugal since 1419. The wine of choice for such early Americans as Thomas Jefferson, Madeira has a long and fascinating history. The wines also enjoy extraordinary longevity. Rainwater: An old name for a specific style of Madeira. Today Rainwater is used generically for medium-dry wines similar in style to a Verdelho. Broadbent: The producer. All Madeiras in the Broadbent portfolio are hand-selected on the island by Michael Broadbent, widely considered to be the world's foremost authority on Madeira.

Kosher
A Kosher wine begins like every other - as grapes on a vine. Once they reach the winery for crushing, the wine is under strict rabbinal supervision.

Screw Cap wine
Screw Cap
Many studies report and winemakers agree that screw caps protect wine better and preserve its flavor more effectively than cork. More importantly, screw caps eliminate cork taint caused by TCA, a compound which develops in a small percentage of corks and ruins the taste of wine.
