Bouchard Aine & Fils Fixin "La Maziere" 2009
Pinot Noir
from Burgundy, France
winemaker's notes:
Dark ruby color with violet hints. Slightly rustic notes of spices and woody flavors, and red fruit brandy (kirsch). Full, racy, and chewy. Firm tannins, marked by the terroir.
The Cuvée Signature range is a selection of wines from famed Burgundy villages that bear the name of a single vineyard as well as those bearing the prestigious title of Premier or Grand Cru. These wines are produced in limited quantities.
The Pinot Noir grapes for this Cuvée Signature wine were selected from the 2.2-hectare "La Mazière" vineyard which is located in the pretty Côte de Nuits village of Fixin, south of Dijon. The name "La Mazière" comes from the Latin term maceriae, meaning "surrounding walls" and, by extension, "walls built with stones from collapsed houses."
