winemaker's notes:

Bonterra's Cabernet traditionally offers aromas of Bing cherry, casis, currants and raspberry, with spicy notes of cedar and dried cranberry, with slight vanilla notes In the glass you'll find juicy red berry flavors, and a very approachable, rich and full mouthfeel with a lingering, thoughtful finish. Good structure, polished yet soft tannins promise an ever more pleasing wine to come, with lively acidity and subtle spice.

Crafted from certified organically grown grapes from Mendocino and Lake Counties.

critical acclaim:

"A wonderful red wine, full-bodied, dry and elegant. It shows Cabernet character in the blackberries, cherries and black currants, but that’s balanced with an earthiness and minerality and even some smoked meat notes that must come from a perpercentage of Syrah and Petite Sirah. Tasted in a flight of much more expensive Cabs, this one easily stood out. Drink now– 2011."

Fair, overpriced for what you get.

California and organic for $14.99...I thought something this delicious would cost a lot more money. Wonderful full body and a great nose and finish. Highly recommended.

I bought this wine initially because I was trying to decide between this and another organic 90 point wine under $20. I picked Bonterra for the label (I know, I know, but it was the only distinctive difference between the 2). Then I bought it again because it's delicious. Very smooth. Let it air for a bit before drinking for best results.

Was not at all happy with this wine. It tasted like dirt. I paid $14.99 from wine.com, and the local Fred Myers stores in this area where getting it off of their shelves for $12.00. Buyer beware....wine.com does not always have the best deals. I have 3 bottles of this wine left, anyone care to buy it from me?
rating (1/29/2011):
I typically do not purchase Cabernets since I lean toward Pinot Noir as my red. However, my boyfriend favors Cabs so I bought this, and I was pleasantly surprised. Just a lovely wine all around. Easy to drink and it was a great accompaniment to a roast turkey meal.
