Winemaker's Notes

Triton Mencia is a cherry color with violet. Mature fruit aromas. The palate is rich, powerful and balanced, slightly mineral. It is great on the palate with a pleasant finish marked by a good acidity.

Critical Acclaim

"Bright violet color. Pungent dark berry and mineral scents show a lively character. Firm and juicy, offering concentrated blackcurrant and bitter cherry flavors and a hint of allspice. Finishes on a spicy note, with firm tannic grip and very good persistence. I like this wine's structure and focus."

Learn About Bodegas Triton

Owned by the Gil family, the winery is located in the village of Villanueva de Campean near Zamora in the historic area known as de la Tierra del Vino, The Land of Wine. This designation pre-dates the current designation of the nearby appellation of Toro. The region known as de la Tierra del Vino should have been included in the D.O. Toro but was forgotten when the boundaries were drawn. This region was chosen for this winery because of the unique soils, similar to those found within the D. O. Toro.
