Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

In appearance the wine has a lively, very intense cherry color. There are iodine-purple hues in the fine top layer.

This grape can be identified in the characteristic balsamic aromas of mint or aniseed, accompanied by ripe fruit and hints of flower blossom. The aroma wheel is completed with toffee and coffee nuances coming through.

On the palate it is outstanding in its richness, well-supported by the clear acidity which with time becomes well-integrated.

This wine is long in its sensations and in its evolution over the next three or four years.

Critical Acclaim

"Quite impressive and eyebrow raising for Graciano. The nose is smoky and dry, with raspberry and bacon. In the mouth, acidity is controlled and thus there’s no sourness to the plum, tomato, spice and vanilla flavors. Finishes with verve and elegance; a nice potential partner for just about any food. Drink now through 2015. "
