Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

A pale, brilliant yellow with a greenish tinge, small bubles that rise slowly to form the characteristic crown. A very pleasant nose, refined, with the long finish characteristic of the varietal and the ageing process. Chardonnay adds a wonderful fruit aromas.

Pleasant on the palate, soft and smooth, a dry, fresh nature, rounded and with a good, elegant and well balanced aftertaste. Chardonnay adds a delightful depth of flavor and body. Well balanced and harmonious, with an honest aftertaste and a long finish.

Critical Acclaim

"Caves Naveran's 2007 Naveran Dama is a blend of 85% Chardonnay and 15% Parellada which spent 24 months on the lees. The presence of the Chardonnay elevates the aromatics well above the norm for Cava. It is broad in the mouth with excellent volume and lingering flavors. It is a super value in sparkling wine."

Learn About Bodegas Naveran Map ItMap It

Thirty years of carefully crafting Cava is a family legacy that began in 1901. Founded in 1985 by Swiss-born Michel Gilleron Parellada, the Caves Naveran winery owns 110 hectares (272 acres) of vines in the town of Torrelavit located in the Alt (high) Penedes subregion. Despite the fact that Cava is Spain’s largest volume wine export to the U.S., Cavas are made utilizing the same methods used in Champagne and have remained Spain’s best-kept secret for quality and value in wine.
