Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits a strong perfumed bouquet of blackberries, mulberries, cedar, roses and minerals. The palate is silky and sweet with inviting dark berry preserve flavors, gentle tannins and a very smooth finish.

15 months maturation in French and American oak barrels has added further complexity to the wine. Although drinking delighfully now, this wine will reward careful cellaring until the year 2012.

Critical Acclaim

"Deep ruby. Strongly perfumed bouquet offers suave blackberry, mulberry, cedar, rose and minerals. Silky and sweet, with inviting dark berry preserve flavors, gentle tannins and impressive finishing energy. A very pure, palate-coating cabernet with great immediate appeal."
