My coworker gave me this wine and they live in Santa Cruz, CA. WOW! Nice smell, fullbodied and full of a varity of flavors to tease your palate. Thanks Rita and Matt!!!! I'll be headed up Bear Creek Road to find the winery and enjoy the other flavors offered at this location. Go for it and give your senses a down home experience!
A Customer - Ft Myers FL
Great Blend, one of the most drinkable wines we've had in quite some time. Good reviews and screw top to boot.
A Customer - New Jersey
Absolutely love the wine. But just have not been able to buy it laterly because of the screw top! Help!
A Customer - New York
It got better by the glass. Great value. Even hard core red lover's will appreciate the bang for the buck.
A Customer - Go Badgers, Wisconsin
Big House Red is the best wine under $10 we have found in years. It has great body and a clean, but very full flavor.
A Customer - Sarasota, FL
Great wine for the price. Very drinkable and no corkscrew needed!
A Customer - New Jersey
"Cheap" in price but by no means "cheap" in taste! An excellent everyday wine. You can eat this with cold pizza in front of the TV or serve it to guests at a dinner party.
A Customer - Chicago
This was an excellent red. Fruity and smooth but with some complexity. Pleasant aroma. Great value. We will be buying it again soon.
A Customer - California
I'm not crazy about red wine in general, but I enjoy this one! Everyone we serve it to raves about it! Guests are always asking where they can get some, and are pleasantly surprised by the price!
A Customer - Atlanta, GA
A good red, which is pleasantly surprising for the $10 price. The people on this page who are calling this wine "great" are maybe a little over-excited. Five Rivers Cabernet is also $10, and is a little better. I will probably try the Big House again.
A Customer - Lebanon, OH
I did not find this wine to be very memorable. I would not buy it again.
A Customer - Spain
Very good Wine. I strongly recomend it. It's not easy in Europe finding in average restaurants wine from the US. Very good choice.
A Customer - vancouver, bc
this was really delicious! it was $17 CND but i bought it based on the reviews here. for $9/ bottle in the states, i will definitely buy a case and ship it to my friend's place. a nice surprise!
A Customer - Arlington, Va
Great value. Not impressed with the first sip but the longer it sat in my glass the better it became. Great with a cheeseburger and fries!!
A Customer - Riverside, CT
Good for the $$ , but it does not deserve the 90 pts. I've tasted better Argentine or Aussie reds for this price range.
A Customer - Rochester,NY,USA
Great bang for the buck, not too dry not too much acid, a great wine for people who dont really like reds, went great with BBQ chicken last night
A Customer - Texas
Based on the many other comments here I took the cheap gamble - and it certainly paid off. Full flavored & mouth filling - What a mix of varietals in this! There is bit of sharpness on the finish, yet overall a very happy easy drinking wine. Great with pizza and can't beat the price for the quality...don't get hung up on the fact it is a screw cap and miss out on this. Side note: Randall Grahm, the owner of Bonny Doon Vineyard, sold the "Big House" and "Cardinal Zin" name brands to Fritz Lance, President of Underdog Wine Merchants (part of Wine Group LLC), as of August 2006. Given this is a 2004 vintage, I would assume it is a Bonny Doon Winery production, although the current bottle inventory may indeed now be owned by Underdog.

Not worth the $9. Sharp and inmature
A Customer - new paltz, NY
Great wine, and don't let the screw top fool you...
A Customer - California
I love this wine and can't believe how Bonny Doon produces something so interesting and high quality at this price! Try it, you won't be disappointed!
A Customer - Dallas, TX
I keep returning to buy this wine. It's solid, smooth, easy to drink - and most people agree. I have several friends who repeatedly buy this too. We all think it's the best under $10 bottle of red wine out there today. Stock up for everyday drinking or for parties - your friends will never guess it's a $10 bottle that you're serving.
A Customer - N. Jersey
This has always been a favorite of ours and for a while was the 'house red.' What I didn't realise until recently was that Bonny Doon do not make this wine - they sold the name to someone else.
A Customer - TX
Really a great wine for the price. Very drinkable "house" red. Smooth and easy on the palate. Great for pizza, pasta, burgers, or parties, too.
A Customer - Beautiful Cleveland, Ohio
A 90? I don't think so. This wine was nothing special. Full bodied, a confusing taste-meaning it was all over the place. At the 12 price point I'm disappointed. Maybe at $9 I would put it in a different category. I'd rate it 87-88.
A Customer - California
Okay for an inexpensive red, but not that great. Compare to Redhead Red by Fife, nothing to write home about.
A Customer - Virginia
This wine reminded me of some of the wines I enjoyed on a trip to Italy; sitting in the piazza on a warm Mediterranean day. I paired the Big House Red with a teriyaki pork roast. The wine was an intense red with a fruity nose. It was smooth with a light hint of tannins. Big House Red was easy to enjoy. Do not let the bottle cap scare you off.
A Customer - New York
WOW! I'm impressed...great wine for the price!

Kosher wine
Kosher
A Kosher wine begins like every other - as grapes on a vine. Once they reach the winery for crushing, the wine is under strict rabbinal supervision.
Screw Cap wine
Screw Cap
Many studies report and winemakers agree that screw caps protect wine better and preserve its flavor more effectively than cork. More importantly, screw caps eliminate cork taint caused by TCA, a compound which develops in a small percentage of corks and ruins the taste of wine.
