Winemaster Comments: When I choose the fruit that will ultimately make the Sbragia Limited Release Chardonnay, it sort of comes from a gut feeling. The grapes need to taste complete and able to stand on their own, exhibiting total balance and richness. I look for something I call a 'totally yummy,' unctuous quality that needs no blending to round it. With each winemaking decision I make - like which particular barrels will perfectly match and enhance the fruit - I try to coax every layer of flavor out of the grapes and create a wine that is as much about personal expression as vineyard character and quality.
"Rich, complex and deeply concentrated style, with layers of pear, fig, smoke, apricot and honey. Bold and intriguing, it's a mouthful of Chardonnay that both relies on oak and carries it well. Drink now through 2005."
