Beringer Knights Valley Alluvium Red 2005
Bordeaux Red Blends
from Sonoma County, California
winemaker's notes:
“The 2005 Alluvium is an expression of the best red Bordeaux varietals from this vintage. The proprietary Alluvium name pays homage to the alluvial soils of Knights Valley, a vineyard that has long been a magical place for me. The generous portion of Merlot results in intense cherry flavors and a plush mid-palate, while the Cabernet adds structure and a hint of freshly ground black pepper. I love the floral notes the Malbec brings to the blend, the delicate spice lent by the Petite Verdot, and the way the Cab Franc extends the finish of the wine. Blending allows us to achieve countless layers of aroma, flavor and complexity with this wine – it’s truly one of my favorites.” -Laurie Hook, Winemaker
Blend: 74% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, with small amounts of Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Petite Verdot.
