Not only is this a perfect wine for spring and summer, it's a perfect example of the attention to detail that goes into the wines we craft. Unlike most wineries, which produce rosés as a byproduct of bleeding-off juice to enhance concentration in a given lot of wine, we grow blocks of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre specifically for our rosé. This is important for several reasons: the fruit on these blocks is farmed differently, and it is harvested sooner at lower Brix and with higher acidity. In turn, the three varietals we have chosen to blend together create a more complete expression of rosé, with the Grenache core delivering bright fruit, acid and structure, the Syrah contributing color and depth, and the Mourvèdre adding textural softness, and sophisticated notes of earth and spice.
"This wine's warmth and spicy red intensity make it a rose for food. The alcohol is perceptible, but it's balanced by plenty of flavor and earthy structure. It provoked a range of food suggestions from the panelists, including seafood paella, barbecued shrimp wrapped in bacon and slow smoked barbequed ribs. (1,000 cases)."
