Alcohol By Volume: 15.0%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Our 2007 Estate syrah is a blend of 9 selected lots of syrah from our Purisima Mountain vineyard located in Ballard Canyon consisting of 6 different clonal selections to elevate texture and complexity.

The vintage of 2007 turned out to be one of the best vintages to date. A well balanced growing season with long hang time offered exceptional flavors with lower alcohol levels creating syrah's with great length and depth of flavor.

Critical Acclaim

""A vigorous core of fresh blueberry and violet runs through this Syrah from Steve Beckmen's biodynamically farmed Purisima Mountain estate. It's cool, with lasting flavours of black pepper and sweet berries. Decant for a bone-in pork chop." "
