Medium dark-ruby garnet color. A more "earthy" wine, more powerful and structured than the 1991, with chewy tannins, meaty fruit flavors, and a strong, minerally finish. Hints of coffee and mocha from the new oak add dimension and spice, as well as a little sweetness.
"The 1992 Cabernet Sauvignon Georges de Latour Private Reserve is a stylish, polite, elegant Cabernet with a healthy ruby color, medium body, and an attractive, understated set of aromatics. Although not extracted or particularly powerful, this wine offers considerable charm, elegance, and ripe fruit in a medium-bodied, silky-textured format. In spite of its accessibility, it promises to last for 10-15+ years. Interestingly, the wine is now aged in 32% new French oak as opposed to the old practice of aging the wine in 100% American oak. The difference is apparent in the more subtle integration of oak in the wine's aromatics and flavors"
The Wine Advocate
"Balanced and pretty, with plenty of blackberry, raspberry and mint character. Full-bodied and chewy, with lots of velvety tannins and a medium finish, which needs a bit more fruit to be outstanding.--Georges de Latour Private Reserve vertical. "
