Wine Style Guide

Light & Fruity

Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.

Smooth & Supple

Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.

Earthy & Spicy

Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Big & Bold

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Alcohol By Volume: 13.7%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

This wine is taken from twenty seven of our grower partners from the Barossa Valley Floor with 16% from our own vineyards in Marananga. 16% was also taken from the Northern Barossa where we source our award winning E&E Black Pepper Shiraz. After fermentation 45% of this wine was aged six months in equal portions of French and American oak. The oak selection has added complexity and flavour with 24% aged in new oak barrels, 10% in one year old barrels, 30% in two year old barrels and 36% in three to four year old barrels.

Deep red in colour with purple hues, this wine exhibits rich Shiraz aromas of cherries, plums, spices, and black pepper along with some beautifully integrated oak sweetness and spice.

Enjoy with lamb shanks, spicy eastern cuisine or rich pasta dishes.

Critical Acclaim

"Generous, medium- to full-bodied wine, with blackberry and plum fruit backed by good tannins and subtle oak; pretty nifty for a second label."

This wine has a great dark ruby color with a nice aroma of black currant, leather and that little twang that tells your brain this is gonna be good! The taste is very fruit forward, with hints of cherry and blackberry and such a nice velvety mouthfeel and a great finish. This wine would be great with grilled steaks, lamb, or a nice mixed grill, or just by itself (that's how I'm enjoying it even as I type this!). Altogether, this was a really great bottle at a value price!
