Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

This Pinot Noir begins with aromas of cherry, strawberry and vanilla. It is supple and complex, with dark fruit flavors and a round mouthfeel alongside smooth tannins. The finish is nice and long, with lingering flavors of dark raspeberry and blackberry.

Critical Acclaim

"The 2009 Pinot Noir Grand Firepeak Cuvee is a very pretty wine that expresses freshness and vibrancy above all else. Sweet red berries, flowers and spices meld together nicely in this medium-bodied, finessed Pinot. The 2009 will appeal most to readers who appreciate a lithe, mineral-driven style of Pinot. I especially like the tension and energy of the finish. This is very much a wine for the dinner table. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019."

Very sharp and distinct. Not smooth and subtle. As a change of pace, I like it.
