Red Wine from South Africa
ratings pedigree (past vintages):
winemaker's notes:
The aromas are perfumed, peppery, spicy, smoky and exhibit ripe red fruit notes. As always the palate texture of this style of wine is supple, smooth on the entry but with enough grip to end dry and refreshing. In the mouth, the texture and fineness of fruit tannin and drinkability of the wine is immediately evident.
Blend: 74% Shiraz, 10% Cinsault, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Grenache, 1% Carignan, 1% Mourvedre

critical acclaim:
"A blend of 74% Shiraz, 10% Cinsault plus Grenache, Carignan and Mourvedre aged for 14 months in old French casks, the entry-level 2010 Secateurs Red Blend has ripe raspberry, blackberry and wild hedgerow on the nose that is well defined and very natural. The palate is medium-bodied, supple on the entry with juicy bright red berries, raspberry, red currant and has a touch of citrus peel lending freshness and vitality. Drink now-2013."

The Wine Advocate
"A complex blend of 75% Shiraz, 10% Cinsault, 8% Cab Sauv, 6% Gren and 1% each of Carignan and Mourvèdre, this is a concentrated and flavorful selection that’s brimming with raspberry sauce and dark berry fruit aromas and flavors. Framed by black tea, sweet spice and vanilla bean accents, the mouth is firmly structured with medium tannins and acidity, ending on a soft, roasty note."
