The majority (75%) of the fruit for this release is from the potentially great Fable Vineyards located on the rich alluvial soils of Langhorne Creek south of Adelaide, and we believe that with continued careful husbandry these vineyards will yield fruit comparable with the best anywhere. The balance of fruit was from the Barossa Valley (20%) and McLaren Vale (5%). After fermentation the wine was matured in mix of a small portion of new but mainly second year American and French Oak for just over 12 months.
The resultant wine shows up vibrantly in the glass and exudes sweet, spicy dark berry fruit with lashings of black cherry/plum in a firm style that still drinks effortlessly even with youth. Given the next 3-6 years in the bottle this Shiraz will darken and sweeten to become more robust and complex with hints of leather and chocolate evolving around the slippery spiced-fruit centre.
