In the glass, a ruby red wine with a magenta hue sets the stage
for aromas of red fruits led by boysenberry, raspberry and cherry.
Notes of layered white and black pepper, allspice and cinnamon all contribute to the classic "Zinny" character typical of Artezin. In the mouth, flavors of red fruit repeat, complemented by pomegranate and cherry. Rich and lush, the wine shows supple tannins that balance nicely between aging and immediate enjoyment. Pair with grilled meats and robust red sauced pasta.
Zin and cheese is a marriage made in heaven's kitchens, and I favor this Zin with lavender dusted Barely Buzzed, one of our favorite artisan cheeses, as well as Gouda, blue cheeses, aged cheddar and Fenacho, a semi-hard farmstead cheese.
We handcraft Artezin Zinfandel from grapes grown in some of California's best Zinfandel regions: Napa Valley, Amador County, Sonoma County and Mendocino County. Artezin expresses terroir and rich varietal fruit with lively and complex elegance.
Beyond Napa and Sonoma in the north you find a couple of other counties producing great wine. Among these are Mendocino and Lake County. The northernmost California winegrowing regions, these two counties are right above Napa and Sonoma, geographically. Yet, wine-wise they are very different - both from their southern neighbors and from each other.
