Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.

Smooth & Supple

Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.

Earthy & Spicy

Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Big & Bold

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Alcohol By Volume: 14.5%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The fruit profile opens with fresh blackberries and black cherry, followed by ripe raspberry jam. More subtle aromas of currants, licorice, black pepper and spice. Entry on the palate is a burst of berries, followed by spices and ripe fruit sweetness. The mid-palate is smooth and round with elegant tannins and a lush finish. This Dry Creek offering shows that Zinfandel can be sophisticated and elegant and gains complexity with pairing. As such, excellent food pairings include roasted duck, veal, and grilled salmon as well as pastas and subtle-flavored cheeses.

Critical Acclaim

"A real spice bomb, loaded with black cherry and caramel notes and jammy, appealingly complex huckleberry, toasty licorice and loamy sage flavors. Drink now through 2014. 2,750 cases made."

I am not usually a Zin person, but I really like this one. Had it at a resturant with a steak and had to order a couple of bottles.

One of my favorite red wines! This Zinfandel has nice tannings with a subtle fruity undertone that finishes well alone or with creamy cheeses.

I don't remember what in particular I liked about this wine, but I do know that I liked it enough to add to my list of wines that I liked enough to write down because I want to buy it again.

Great expecially for the price. A bit of jam without being too overwhelming. Very lush, nice follow through.

No acidity, very little tannin, not powerful. On the nose I get leather, cigar box, earthiness. However, if you are buying this wine, make sure you decant it for at least 3 hours. Otherwise, it would taste like regular juice, exactly as is!

Garnet-hued Zinfandel with a fruity, jammy aroma and sweet, smooth flavors of fresh berries and a soft finish; goes well with roast pork and salmon.

I placed a search for a Deep Jam like flavor and the Winemakers notes stated - The fruit profile opens with fresh blackberries and black cherry, followed by ripe raspberry jam. More subtle aromas of currants, licorice, black pepper and spice. Entry on the palate is a burst of berries, followed by spices and ripe fruit sweetness. Well, I certainly got the Black Pepper but it was so forward on the tongue and it lingered so long on the palate that I could taste nothing but. If you like a True Grit Bite then this wine is for you; however if you like a jam like flavor on the front of your tongue with a bittersweet chocolate flavor and a round finish this wine is NOT for you. And it's NOT for me.

Basically undrinkable. Opened this wine over the weekend (had been stored in our good wine fridge) and it was basically undrinkable. tasted spoiled. Makes me not want to buy from this site again.

Learn About Artezin

We handcraft Artezin Zinfandel from grapes grown in some of California's best Zinfandel regions: Napa Valley, Amador County, Sonoma County and Mendocino County. Artezin expresses terroir and rich varietal fruit with lively and complex elegance.

Learn About Sonoma County

Twice as large as Napa in size, Sonoma County only makes about a half the amount of wine as her northeasterly neighbor. But Sonoma, with her size, is able to vouch for more diversity within her borders, including sub-AVAs that are climatically varied. The atmosphere of Sonoma is decidedly laid back and down home country style. But in wines, they are keeping up with the...

Learn About Zinfandel

Zinfandel(ZIN-fahn-dell) American Grape Zinfandel the American - or Californian - grape. Although it's not from America (Croatia has been named its origin), it does seem quite at home in the vineyards of California. During Prohibition, many Zinfandel vines survived as the high-yielding grape was popular both for home winemaking and communion wine, which is...
