Artesa Carneros Chardonnay 1998
Chardonnay
from Carneros, California
winemaker's notes:
Complex ripe apple, pear nectar and butterscotch aromas and a touch of nutmeg fill the rich, seductive nose of this Chardonnay. The wine delivers luxurious textures and a host of flavors to the palate, including sweet ripe pear, lemon and apple butter, that persist throughout a long, well-balanced finish.

A Customer - Texas
An extremely complex wine. It is a deep yellow/gold with a fruity, oaky aroma and hints of rubber (when over-chilled) and butter. The wine is semi-dry, has a medium acidity and a medium sweetness, combining for a good balance. It has a full length with a light attack that evolves into a spicy and buttered taste in the evolution and the finish. This wine is heavy (like a meal). Serve warmer than typical for white wines. Definitely for the person who loves buttery wines, but not for the one who favors fruit. One of my favorites.
