The intense ruby red color of this wine is typical of the Monica grape. Persistent aromas of ripened cherry, cassis, black pepper carry through to the palate and are followed by sweet hints of chocolate and firm tannins. Very vibrant, rich and rustic.
An excellent wine with spicy food, pasta with tomato or meat sauces, casseroles, and medium aged cheeses.
"The 2007 Perdera is the house’s entry-level red. A blend of 90% Monica, 5% Carignano and 5% Bovale Sardo, (all indigenous varieties), it spends a brief sojourn of 5-6 months in French oak. This delicious, hearty red is loaded with dark red cherries, cracked black pepper, spices, licorice and herbs. It is an incredibly pleasing, hearty red to enjoy over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2011."
