Red Blends from California
Wine Style Guide
Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.
Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.
Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.
Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.
Alcohol By Volume: 13.1%
Alcohol By Volume Guide
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.
Apothic Red reveals intense fruit aromas and flavors of rhubarb and black cherry that are complemented by hints of mocha, chocolate, brown spice and vanilla. The plush, velvety mouthfeel and smooth finish round out this intriguing, full-bodied red blend.
Big & Bold
The best under $15 big and bold every day red table wine. Layers of fruit on the nose and a hint of vanilla on the finish. Requires only minimal decanting time and flavors hold for 48 hours from opening.
Smooth & Supple
I found my new favorite winery - APOTHIC! Very BOLD on the nose, then a big ball of fruit with just enough spice! Loving it!!!
Smooth & Supple
I LOVE this RED and the WHITE is even BETTER! Both are at a GREAT price.
Smooth & Supple
This wine, although a little on the timid side, is delightful. Full of fruit and gentle on the pallet and tongue. Tannins are very soft and has a fruity finish. This would be a good entry level red for someone looking to move from whites. Be careful though, this wine is VERY approachable if you catch my drift!
This is a good every day sort of red. Great price and also very good for that price!
This is a really good red wine! I am not a red wine drinker and absolutely love the Apothic white... this one is a good one. Smells of caramel and tastes of black cherry, very smooth finish! As well as as a great price....
Sweet, cherry flavors with a hint of sandal wood, the finish is not very long however this is a nice wine especially for that price point.
Lovely full-flavored wine - with bright fruit and wonderful mouthfeel - great everyday red with lots of flavor
Another Parker over rated wine. Slightly syrupy like watery cough syrup. Too sweet. A wine searching for an identity and finding none. Should be $10 or less.
Was recommended to me as having great QPR. But, I really did not like something about this wine. Sort of a synthetic vanilla aftertaste.

Learn About Apothic
More than 800 years ago, vintners blended and stored their most coveted concoctions in a mysterious place called Apotheca. In late 2005, a Master Winemaker envisioned an epic red wine combining Old World traditions of blending while realizing a markedly New World style. Thus began the path that led his protégé, winemaker Boyd Morrison, to select grapes from California's bountiful vineyards for this new blended red. Morrison was inspired to blend spicy Zinfandel, with smooth Merlot and lush, dark Syrah to create Apothic Red.
