Recent viticultural research in Chile found that what was long thought to be Merlot was actually Carmenere, similar in flavors but with more herbaceous and dry-leafy qualities. This wine is a fine example of the varietal, generous and juicy with its purple fruit expression along with the tell-tale dried-herb character. Not the longest on the palate, but for the price, still a very good deal!
