Antinori Tignanello (375ML half-bottle) 2004
Sangiovese
from Tuscany, Italy
winemaker's notes:
Number 4 on Wine Spectator's Top 100 of 2007!
One of the first "Super Tuscans," Tignanello is meant to last. Although its delicious structure and flavors can be enjoyed while young too. The nose shows layers of dark fruits and spice, with subtle notes of toasted oak. On the palate the wine is rich but well structured with fine tannins. Layers of fruit give the wine complexity, which continues through the long finish.
"The 2004 Tignanello (85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc) presents a livelier shade of ruby along with fresher aromatics and flavors. Deeply expressive, it reveals black cherries, licorice, tar and sweet toasted oak on a linear, silky-textured frame of great class and elegance, showing outstanding presence on the palate and fine tannins to round out the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019."
