Winemaker's Notes

Badia a Passignano Riserva is produced exclusively from the most highly selected Sangiovese grapes grown on the estate of the same name. Its goal is to reflect the unique relationship between a single variety and its perfect terroir home. This site has been inhabited for 2 millennia and has been renowned for its wine production for over 1,000 years.

The black fruit, great density and concentrated flavors of Chianti Classico. Dried strawberries, roasted meats, olives, and floral aromas and flavors go beyond the norm for Chianti Classico to make a wine of extraordinary character and depth. Rich tannins are supported by deep black fruit, seamless barrel integration and an overall sweet palate impression.

I live in the wine region of Canada and have become accustom to wonderful wines at relatively low costs. During a recent trip to Japan I came across this wine and let me say that this in an absolutely incredible wine. It is reasonably priced for the quality of the wine however I recommend purchasing from a wine store as opposed to waiting to come across it in a restaurant as the price can exceed hundreds of dollars.. you should be able to find it for just under $50.

In Florence, the Antinori family has led a "Renaissance" in Italian wine making by combining long traditions, a love of authenticity and a dynamic innovative spirit.

For a stint in the 70s and 80s, wines labeled Chianti contained cheap red wine packaged in a straw casked bottle, most popular for the candle holder it would become. But no more. Sangiovese re...
