This wine exudes crisp acidity, as well as pungent aromas and flavors of pear, citrus and honeydew melon. The bright, fresh fruitiness and floral aromas shine through and are textbook examples of what Sauvignon Blanc from California should be.
Introduced by famed California consulting winemaker Robert L. Pepi and owned by Stephen and Dennis Kreps (owners of Two Angels), Angel's Secret Wines are made from grapes grown on a rocky little hillside vineyard at approximately 1,500 feet above sea level, just east of Clear Lake (California's largest natural lake entirely within the state) in the Lake County appellation (Zinfandel) and grapes that come from vineyards at, or near, the top of the Mayacamus Mountain range, which divides Napa Valley from Sonoma Valley (Merlot).
Beyond Napa and Sonoma in the north you find a couple of other counties producing great wine. Among these are Mendocino and Lake County. The northernmost California winegrowing regions, these two counties are right above Napa and Sonoma, geographically. Yet, wine-wise they are very different - both from their southern neighbors and from each other.
