Wine Style Guide

Light & Fruity

Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.

Smooth & Supple

Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.

Earthy & Spicy

Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Big & Bold

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Alcohol By Volume: 14.5%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The middle palate is full and soft with sophisticated fruit from the Angle Block section of the vineyard. The fruit is fully focused in a way which allows opinions to be drawn, as well as a call for patience with this wine. The vineyard is starting to show its pedigree more assertively as each year strengthens the plantings. My thanks go out to all the work Chris Hoon has done at this vineyard.

Blend: 42% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Cabernet Franc, 9% Malbec

Critical Acclaim

"he 2008 Two Blondes is a blend of 42% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Cabernet Franc, and 9% Malbec. Sexy, spicy, complex aromas lead to a savory, plush, rich offering with outstanding volume, grip, and length. It is more forward than the two preceding wines and will continue to deliver pleasure through 2020."
93 Points

"Lithe and silky, showing sweet plum and spice flavors at the core, with hints of oolong tea and cream tingeing the finish. This has elegance and charm. Drink now through 2018."
