Winemaker's Notes

This wine has an underlying fiddlestix vineyard signature; sweet and velvety on entry. laden with peppery spices, cinnamon, brown sugar, rhubarb pie, sexy tannins and spot on acidity and well balanced oak. A glimpse of earthy musk and dark cherries cap off the nose. fiddlestix never fails to show us the beauty of what the other corridor of Sta. Rita hills can produce.

"Spicy cherry and candied apple flavors are intense, full-bodied, and complex, holding onto the ripe fruit theme while remaining elegant and structured. Ends with a blueberry and wild berry mix. Drink now through 2013. 189 cases made." - Wine Spectator 02/09

Critical Acclaim

"From the translucent ruby-garnet color to the rich flavors, this is a flashy, impressive Pinot Noir. Shows an array of crushed ripe red cherries, mulberries, cola, sandalwood and dusty Asian spices, with a smooth, delicately silky texture. Now–2012."

Learn About Ampelos Cellars Map ItMap It

Ampelos is a Greek word meaning "vine". We believe that all great wines are made in the vineyard, we also have strong ties to Greece, so “ampelos” truly represents our focus.

We believe in taking care of and respecting the environment and that our vineyard needs to be in balance, therefore a few years ago we made the decision to go 100% bio-dynamic. This means we are essentially organic - yet a step beyond. In 2008, we were one of the first vineyards to be certified as Sustainably Farmed, a milestone of which we are particularly proud.
