Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

There are aromas of apple, pear, slight pineapple, citrus and spun sugar. In the glass the flavors of apple, pear, citrus, cotton candy are balanced by a touch of slight oak on the finish. This wine is spicy, yet fruity with crisp mouth feel and a long aftertaste.

The bright acidity cuts thru rich dishes of scallop, lobster or pasta with cream sauces. Yet, that same acidity complements any citrus based sauce like a lemon browned butter sauce over pan roasted chicken.

Critical Acclaim

"The 2010 Chardonnay Estate is a very pretty wine, not to mention an outstanding value in California Chardonnay. Lemon, vanilla, white flowers and green pears are some of the notes that flow from this zesty, vibrant Chardonnay. The estate’s Chardonnay is aged 70% in steel and 30% in French oak. A dollop of Viognier adds aromatic complexity. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2014. "

The atmosphere of Sonoma is decidedly laid back and down home country style. But in wines, they are keeping up with the...
