Critical Acclaim

"Deep purple, with loads of ripe plum, black cherry and blackberry flavors, scents of violets, dark fruits, new leather, currants and minerals. A real mouthful that manages to show elegance and a measure of finesse. Long, gushing aftertaste."
94 Points

"The saturated blue/purple-colored 2000 Syrah Reva Vineyard exhibits a slightly reduced nose, but with aeration of 60-90 minutes, glorious notes of blackberries, asphalt, singed leather, and wood emerge. Medium to full-bodied and moderately tannic."
94 Points

"Dark ruby-purple. Knockout, Cote-Rotie-like aromas of black raspberry, bitter cherry, dark chocolate, violet, graphite, espresso, bacon fat and black olive. Sweet, dense and lush, with compelling fleshy ripeness supported by a firm spine of acidity. Slight hint of tarry oak. Finishes very long and ripe, with fine tannins and strong, spicy oak. This wine is routinely among the most aromatically explosive syrahs from California, but this vintage also delivers terrific depth of flavor and seamless texture."

Learn About Alban

Alban Vineyards is the first America winery and vineyard established exclusively for Rhone varieties. Conceived at a time when there were virtually only two "flavors" of wine produced in the U.S., they set out to introduce wine grapes that would offer oenephiles a new world of possibilities. Pioneering Roussanne, Grenache Noir and Viognier to go along with meticulously selected clones of Syrah, Alban Vineyards has guided consumers and producers to the enormous potential of Rhone varietals in California.

Learn About Syrah/Shiraz

(seh-RAH/shee-RAHZ) It's a Smokin' Grape Syrah and Shiraz - same grape, different name. It's a popular and adept variety, growing in multiple regions and creating many different styles of wine. The home base of Syrah is the Northern Rhone, where it creates the exclusive wines of Hermitage and Cote Rotie. On the less pricy side, the Rhone makes Syrah-based wines in Crozes...
