Item No. 93342
red wine style:
Light & Fruity Smooth & Supple Earthy & Spicy Big & Bold
winemaker's notes:

Deep garnet red coloring, with a nose of small black berries and licorice. In the mouth, fine and abundant tannins, freshness and length. Its potential for aging could be from 15-20 years, the perfect companion for beef, a shoulder of young lamb in its early years, and of game or strong meat, after several years in a strong cellar.

critical acclaim:

"Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2007!

Really zesty, with lots of red currant and bramble notes bouncing ahead of dark olive and sage flavors. The structure is briary on the finish, with an encore of red fruit and mouthwatering acidity. Drink now through 2017."

Wine Spectator

"Deep ruby. Sexy blackberry and blackcurrant aromas complicated by exotic floral and baking spice accents. Round, fleshy and sweet; the almost jammy dark fruit flavors are complemented by smoked meat and licorice. Intense and very long on the finish, which features very fine, lightly chewy tannins."

International Wine Cellar

"With the brilliant oenologist who worked for Michel Chapoutier for many years, Alberic Mazoyers, now firmly installed at Domaine Alain Voge, these wines are taking off in a spectacular manner (not that they weren’t very impressive in previous vintages). The 2004 Cornas Les Vieilles Vignes displays a dark ruby/plum/purple color and soft cassis and blackberry notes with hints of roasted meats, sweet plums, licorice, smoke, and earth. It is soft, luscious, and ideal for drinking over the next 7-8 years. "
