Winemaker's Notes

Extraordinary quality. Elegant, intense, clean, full on the palate and clearly expressing the mountainside slate/chalk terroir. Unoaked and fresh,fruit/floral/mineral blended into a harmonious whole.

"The medium straw-colored 2007 Casal Novo Godello delivers a fragrant savory/spicy bouquet with notes of minerality, melon, and white peach. Layered and round on the palate, it is loaded with succulent white fruits, has vibrant acidity, and a lengthy, pure finish. It will drink well for several years."

This Godello has been relatively introduced into the country. If you like Riesling Trocken and White Burgundy, then this darling will win you over w/ great fruit purity and minerality depth.

Learn About Adega O Casal Map ItMap It

Founded in 2000 by five partners sharing the ideal of capturing the true varietal and optimum expression of the indigenous Godello and Mencía grapes. Starting with inherited family plots at high elevation near the village of Rubía, vineyard area has gradually expended to the current six hectares (15 acres). Viticulture is meticulous, seeking low yields. Winemaking to date, while technically advanced, has been conducted in a side street garage in Rubia, to be replaced by a new bodega for the 2008 harvest.
