Alcohol By Volume: 13.5%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Praepositus is the winery's premium line, a selection of the very best fruit. Light yellow color with green highlights. Lovely detail and nuance in a layered expression of fresh fruit (sliced melon and pear), spices and light citrus and honey flavors on the finish. Great length and complexity with a decisive dry taste.

Perfect for antipasti, salads, pastas with vegetable based sauces, oven baked fish and goat cheese.

Critical Acclaim

"Straw-green. Lively, nuanced aromas of green apple, white stone fruit and delicate peppery herbs. Broad, fresh and dry in the mouth, with minerally, almost austere flavors of stone fruits, green apple, mint and lime. Very pure and fresh on the long finish, which is less herbal than usual but very satisfying and varietally accurate. Excellent. The Praepositus line of wines is the top end for Novacella, made from lower-yielding vineyards and riper grapes."
