A. Mano Puglia Primitivo 2003
Primitivo
from Southern Italy, Italy
winemaker's notes:
Think of this wine as old vine Zinfandel at an amazingly good price!
Hand-crafted from indigenous Primitivo grapes (the original source for Zinfandel by the way...) it burst with dark, spicy ripe fruit.
Called A-Mano ("hand-made"), this fruit-packed, food-friendly red expresses the region's quality potential, and the reasons for Mark's Apulian connection.

A Customer - Florida
This is a very attractive wine with a complexity that I seldom find in inexpensive wines. I prefer wines to be as interesting in the nose as they are in the mouth and this does not disappoint. It is perhaps a wine for a more experienced pallet as it goes beyond the simple, thin flavors one usually finds in the wines in this price range. I also liked the fact that the alcohol level was about a point lower than what has become the norm. It reminded me of the good old days of the 1970s before wines became hot with alcohol.
Nice color with brownish tinges, full distinct nose, full body with lingering aftertaste. 17/20 pts.
