This wine has an earthy and robust character, which is framed by subtle hints of oak from French and American barrels. This wine showcases the extraordinary dark fruit flavors that result from the unique growing conditions of the Russian River Valley.
All the Pinot Noir fruit comes from carefully tended vines owned by the William Cole family in the cool Casablanca Valley. Aged for six months in small oak casks, the wine retains all of its attractive fresh fruit character, combined with silky tannins and a long, complex finish. Perfect for lighter meals and tomato-based sauces.
A spicy bouquet of roses and cherries greets the nose, with flavors of black cherry, tangy cranberry and brown spices to follow. The long spicy finish is accented by a hint of toasty oak from 16 months aging in French oak barrels. We anticipate this wine will continue to age gracefully in the cellar for up to 10 years.
The fruit for this Pinot Noir is primarily from the Delta region of California and is fermented in closed-top fermenters.
